No two terraces are alike, because no two gardens are. Before we quote anything, we come to see the site in person: the ground, the drainage, the sun exposure, the way you plan to use the space. Only then do we recommend a wood species, a substructure and a mounting system. It takes us a little longer, but it saves you years of repairs.

Our work

This is what it looks like when we finish

Materials and wood types

Choosing the wood is a decision you will live with for twenty years or more, so we make it together. Three species have proven themselves on terraces in this climate: Siberian larch, thermo-treated ash and bangkirai. Each has its own character, price point and maintenance rhythm, and we bring samples so you can see how each one looks fresh and how it ages.

Just as important is the substructure, the part nobody sees but everything rests on. We build it from material at least as durable as the decking itself, with stainless fasteners and properly spaced joists. A terrace fails from the bottom up, never from the top down, which is why we never cut corners where it does not show.

Siberian larch

Siberian larch is our most requested terrace wood, and for good reason. It grows slowly in a cold climate, which makes the timber dense, resinous and naturally resistant to moisture and insects. It starts out a warm honey tone and, left unoiled, weathers into an elegant silver-grey patina. An excellent balance of price, looks and longevity for this region.

Thermo-treated ash

Thermo-ash is local ash modified with nothing but high heat, no chemicals involved. The treatment dramatically reduces moisture absorption, so the boards barely move, cup or crack. Its deep chocolate tone feels genuinely premium and pairs beautifully with modern architecture. We recommend it when looks come first and stability a close second.

Bangkirai

Bangkirai is a tropical hardwood of exceptional density, practically indestructible outdoors. It shrugs off pool chemicals and hard frost alike, and with minimal care it lasts for decades. It is demanding to work with, so we only put it in experienced hands, but the result is a terrace your children will inherit.

How we work

How the construction process works

Everything starts with a free site visit anywhere in Novi Sad and the surrounding area. We measure the space, talk through what you have in mind, and within a few days you receive a detailed quote with a full material specification. Once we agree, we order the timber and book an installation date that suits you.

The build itself follows a strict order: ground preparation, levelling, a substructure with the correct fall for water run-off, and only then the decking. We use hidden fastening wherever possible, finish every edge by hand, and leave the site clean. A typical terrace is done in a few working days, and we tell you exactly how many before we start.

Maintenance

A wooden terrace asks for less care than most people expect, but it does ask for some. The basic rule is simple: once a year, ideally in spring, the terrace gets washed and oiled. That single day of work restores the colour, feeds the wood and adds years to its life.

Every terrace we hand over comes with a short care guide written for your specific wood. And if you would rather not deal with it yourself, we will: we offer annual maintenance, cleaning and re-oiling, so your terrace looks like its first season every summer.

What affects the price

The price of a wooden terrace is driven first by its size, then by the choice of wood, because the gap between spruce and bangkirai is real. The condition of the ground, any levelling work, the height of the substructure, and extras like steps, benches or railings all play their part as well.

That is why we never quote a flat figure over the phone. After the free site visit you get an itemised offer where every line is separated, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and where you could save, for example with a different species or a simpler layout. No hidden costs, no surprises afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a wooden terrace?

Plan on a few working days of installation for an average terrace, plus lead time for the timber, which depends on the species you choose. You get the exact schedule together with your quote, so you know in advance when we start and when you will first sit on your new terrace. We keep the deadlines we give.

Do I need a building permit for a terrace?

For most ground-level terraces in the garden of a family house, no permit is needed, as they count as landscaping. Exceptions exist for covered or raised structures, so during the site visit we tell you honestly whether your case needs checking with the municipality and how to handle it with the least hassle.

Which wood is best for a terrace in this climate?

For the Vojvodina climate, with its hot summers and damp winters, we usually recommend Siberian larch as the best balance of price and durability. Thermo-ash wins when stability and a darker tone matter most, and bangkirai when the terrace simply has to survive everything. We bring samples so you decide with the wood in your hands.

What happens to the terrace in winter?

A properly built terrace takes winter in its stride. The fall of the substructure drains the water away, the gaps between boards let the wood breathe, and a quality finish protects against moisture and frost. Clear snow freely with a plastic shovel. Our earliest terraces around Novi Sad have seen a dozen winters and still stand strong.
