Balcony Construction and Renovation
The balcony is often the most neglected part of a house, yet it can be its finest detail. We do everything that makes a balcony a balcony: new wooden railings, warm decking over cold concrete, complete rebuilds of tired structures, and new balcony floors on houses still under construction. Wooden balconies have been part of our craft since our first projects more than ten years ago.

Working at height, on someone's facade, leaves no room for improvisation, so we approach balconies more carefully than any other job. Before quoting we check the load-bearing structure and the state of the waterproofing, because wood must never be nailed over a hidden problem. That is exactly why clients around Novi Sad often call us after someone else has made a mess.

Materials and wood types
A balcony faces rain and sun, and unlike a terrace it has no ground beneath it to absorb water, so the material has to be beautiful, light and stable all at once. For railings and visible elements we pick woods that machine and profile cleanly; for floors, species that tolerate water sitting on the waterproofing layer.

Every bracket, fastener and screw is stainless, without exception, because rust streaks on a facade never come off. We treat the timber on all six sides before installation, including the side nobody will ever see again. That is where a craftsman differs from an installer.
Siberian larch
For balcony floors and walking surfaces, larch is the standard that rarely meets a serious rival. Hard enough for daily footsteps, naturally resistant to moisture, and handsome whether it silvers or stays oiled. On balconies we lay it on a low substructure with drainage worked out to the last detail.
Glued laminated spruce
For railings, posts and decorative elements we use glued laminated spruce: light, stable and perfectly straight, because laminated timber does not warp the way solid wood can. It takes paint and stain beautifully, which makes it ideal when the railing has to match the existing joinery on the house. With the right coating it lasts for decades.
Thermo-treated ash
When a balcony needs to look like a magazine cover, we suggest thermo-ash. The dark tone, exceptional stability and minimal moisture uptake make it perfect for visible floors and handrails. It is the pricier choice, but on small surfaces like balconies the difference stays reasonable.

How we work
How the construction process works
The job starts with an in-person inspection: we tap, probe, and check the concrete, the railing and the waterproofing. We never quote without that visit, because balconies are good at hiding problems no photo will show. After the inspection you receive a clear itemised offer with a material proposal and a timeline.

Most elements are prefabricated in our workshop, so the on-site installation is short, usually a day or two. That means less noise, less dust and less walking through your home. We remove and haul away the old elements, and hand the balcony over clean and ready to use the same day.

Maintenance
Balcony timber is somewhat more sheltered than a terrace, especially under a roof, so it needs attention less often. Railings and handrails are happy with a fresh coat of stain every two to three years, while a floor exposed to rain wants oiling once a year, less if it is covered.

What matters most is catching the small things early: a crack in the coating, a fastener that has loosened, a board starting to move. That is why every rebuild comes with a free check-up after the first winter. A small intervention at the right moment is the difference between a coat of stain and a whole new railing.
What affects the price
With balconies, price follows scope above all: a new railing is one story, a complete rebuild with new decking and substrate repair quite another. Size, choice of wood, height and access also matter, since working on a third floor with no room for scaffolding takes a different setup than a ground-floor job.

The condition of the existing structure plays its part too. If we find a rotten beam or damaged waterproofing under the old cladding, we resolve it before any timber goes in, and we always call you first with a proposal and a figure. Nothing happens without your agreement. The visit and the quote are free across Novi Sad and the surrounding area.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you replace just the railing, or rebuild whole balconies?
Both. Sometimes a new railing or a new floor is all it takes; sometimes the balcony genuinely needs a full rebuild. After the inspection we tell you honestly what is truly necessary and what can wait. We will not sell you a whole balcony when one beam and two coats of stain solve the problem.
How long does replacing a balcony railing take?
Since the railing is prefabricated in our workshop to exact measurements, the on-site installation usually takes a single day, occasionally two. From survey to installation expect a few weeks, depending on the material and the season. You get the exact date with your quote, and we stick to it.
Does a wooden railing meet height and safety regulations?
Yes. Every railing we build complies with current regulations: the prescribed height, element spacing a child cannot squeeze through, and proper handrail strength. We do not compromise on this even when a client asks for a lower or more open design, because child safety is not a matter of taste.
What about a balcony that leaks?
The cause gets fixed first, the looks come second. If the waterproofing is damaged, we repair it or bring in a trusted specialist before a single board is laid. Wood over a wet problem means paying twice within a year or two, so that is something we simply refuse to do.
